Anna Kendrick proves that she can be a good director as well by creating the smart and creepy “Woman of the Hour” about “The Dating Game Serial Killer” Rodney Alcala.  Kendrick also stars as Cheryl Bradshaw, the woman that Rodney met in the dating game show, the woman of the hour.  Tony Hale stars as Ed Burke, the host of “The Dating Game” based on Jim Lange.

In this interview, Kendrick talks about her interest in making “Woman of the Hour” her feature film directorial debut, Hale reveals secrets about his character, and both tells the reason why the character of Ed Burke was changed from the real-life Jim Lange.

“Woman of the Hour” arrives on Netflix on October 18.

The real-life killer Rodney Alcala was described as having an uncomfortable mystique and aura and Daniel Zovatto fits that description to a T as the serial killer in Netflix’s “Woman of the Hour.”  In this interview, we talk about his interest in playing the character, working with Anna Kendrick as first-time director,  and how he finds the heart of playing the charming killer.

One of the things I love about “Woman of the Hour” is its focus on the victims rather than the serial killer Rodney Alcala.  See how Nicolette Robinson, Autumn Best, and Kathryn Gallagher describe their characters (some are real, some are amalgam of other victims) and then watch the film on Netflix.  I tried to be not too spoilery with this so you can enjoy the film as fresh and spoil-free as you can.
