It was a pleasure talking to Vince Vaughn for Netflix’s “Nonnas.”  Based on a true story, Vaughn plays the real-life Joe Scaravella who built a restaurant to honor his recently deceased mother with local Italian grandmothers serving as cooks.  The restaurant is called Enoteca Maria in Staten Island, New York.

I traveled to the Big Apple to talk to the cast and filmmakers of “Nonnas.”  In this interview, Vaughn discussed his interest in joining the cast, what he learned from his real-life character, what he hopes for viewers to get after watching the film, and his favorite Italian food.

“ Nonnas” is now streaming on Netflix.

Joe Manganiello is the wind beneath the wing of Vince Vaughn in “Nonnas.”  He plays Bruno, the best friend of Vaughn’s Joe.  In this interview, Manganiello talks about his interest in joining the cast, his dynamics with Vaughn, and what his girlfriend says about the film.

I had a great time visiting with the veteran actresses of “Nonnas.”  Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco, and Brenda Vaccaro were sweet and ready to talk about their sweet and funny “Nonnas.”

In this interview, we talked about their characters, their interest in joining the cast, and the greatest question of them all – which is better between Bologna and Sicily?  I went over my allotted time but the ladies were so sweet with Bracco apologizing and Sarandon giving me props for my questions.  Awwwww.

It was great seeing Stephen Chbosky again.  Many moons ago, 2012 to be exact, I met the filmmaker for his first directing gig at the Toronto International Film Festival for “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.”  Fast forward to 13 years later, Chbosky is back at the helm of a new Netflix film called “Nonnas.”

Together with his wife Liz Maccie who wrote the screenplay, the filmmakers discuss their interest in making “Nonnas,” the cast, and what they hope for viewers to get after watching the film.
