I walked out of the screening of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” remembering Tonatiuh.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Jennifer Lopez in the film and Diego Luna is phenomenal but Tonatiuh grounds his character and adds just enough sass and camp to keep us entertained.  He was very memorable.

Based on the 1976 novel of the same name by Manuel Puig with music by Kander and Ebb, this new film is all about love – love for fellow humans, romantic love, and above all, love for our country.

Written and directed by Bill Condon (“Dreamgirls,” “Chicago,” “Gods and Monsters”), the film has the soul of the novel, the spirit of the 1985 movie with William Hurt, Raul Julia, and Sonia Braga, and the razzle dazzle of the 1992 Tony-winning musical!

I previously met Condon for the desert’s premiere of “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”  So it was just a joy to talk to him again about the film.  Check out our interview as they take you inside the making of the film.

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” is being released in theaters by Roadside Attractions on October 10th.
