Shot for 7 days for $7k, “Burt” is a true labor of love.  Writer-director Joe Burke takes you behind-the-scenes of the making of the film.  From Executive Producer David Gordon Green, the film tells the story of Burt (Burt Berger), a 69-year-old street musician living with Parkinson’s.  But his life is about to be turned upside down with the arrival of Sammy (Oliver Cooper also co-wrote the script) who claims to be his son.  Blurring the line between reality and fiction, the film is inspired by the real-life of singer/songwriter Burt Berger.  The film was shot in his house featuring his real-life roommate Steven (Steven Levy).  So meta!  And the result is a heartfelt, funny, and emotionally fulfilling film.

“Burt” is making the festival rounds right now including the Palm Springs International Film Festival.  For more information or to get tickets, go to burtthemovie.com.
