PSIFF ‘26: Edgar Ramirez Talks Venezuelan Film “It Would Be Night in Caracas”
Based on the book by Karina Sainz Borgo, “It Would Be Night in Caracas” is a haunting and emotionally powerful political dystopian thriller about Adelaida (the fantastic Natalia Reyes) trying to survive the brutal 2017 political collapse and street riots in Venezuela. Directed by Mariana Rondon and Marité Ugás and produced by Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez (“Yes Day,” “Florida Man”), the film blends intense realism with dystopian horror depicting the psychological toll of a nation in crisis where survival means abandoning who you once were.
“It Would Be Night in Caracas” received the Ibero-American Special Mention award at the recently concluded Palm Springs International Film Festival. I spent some time with Edgar Ramirez to talk about his passion in producing the film.
PSIFF ‘26: Marité Ugás on Adapting “It Would Be Night in Caracas”
Co-director Marité Ugás talks about how she and Mariana Rondon collaborated in making the harrowing film “It Would Be Night in Caracas.” I love her passion!
