I had a great time watching Christopher Landon’s “Drop.” It’s simultaneously nerve-racking but also affecting, thanks to the performance of Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) as Violet and her indelible chemistry with her first date in the movie, Henry played by Brandon Sklenar (“1923”).
In the film, single mother Violet is entering the world of dating again after her husband died. But things go awry in the restaurant when in the middle of her date with Henry, she receives a Digidrop (it’s like AirDrop but not Apple) message that becomes increasingly terrifying.
I spent some time with Landon (“Freaky Friday,” “Happy Death Day”) to talk about his interest in directing the film, creating the character with Fahy, and what he hopes for viewers to get after watching the film.
“Drop” from Universal Pictures is being released in theaters on April 11.
