James Gunn is finally giving us a clearer picture of who might become the next Dark Knight in the DC Universe. And while Hollywood rumors are flying faster than the Batmobile, Gunn has one very important message: nobody has been cast yet!

Let’s talk movies!

🦇 JAMES GUNN SAYS NEW BATMAN CASTING IS GETTING CLOSER!

HOLY HOLLYWOOD SPECULATION, BATMAN!

Who will be the next Dark Knight?

Well, according to DC Studios co-chief James Gunn, we may not have to wait much longer to find out.

During an advance clip from The Suicide Squad: Is It Canon? The Official Podcast, Gunn revealed that casting for the DC Universe’s Batman is approaching.

But before the internet starts announcing its favorite actors, here’s the important part.

Batman has NOT been cast.

Gunn specifically pushed back against rumors suggesting an actor has already secretly landed the role.

He also explained that the new Batman will be approximately the same age as David Corenswet’s Superman, who is currently 33.

And unlike previous versions of the character, Gunn says he’s not necessarily looking for a major movie star.

He’s looking for the best actor for the role.

The new Batman is being developed for The Brave and the Bold, a movie exploring Bruce Wayne’s relationship with his son Damian Wayne, who becomes Robin.

This version will exist within Gunn’s interconnected DC Universe.

And no, it won’t replace Robert Pattinson’s Batman, who continues in Matt Reeves’ separate series.

No casting announcement or theatrical release date has been confirmed for The Brave and the Bold.

MANNY’S TAKE:

Oh, the pressure!

Imagine being the actor who has to follow Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, and Robert Pattinson!

But I actually like what Gunn is saying.

Because Batman isn’t just about the jawline, the costume, or that famous gravelly voice.

Bruce Wayne is a deeply complicated character.

He’s traumatized, obsessive, brilliant, and emotionally guarded.

And if the new movie really explores his relationship with Damian, the actor will need to portray something we don’t always see from Batman.

Fatherhood!

Now THAT could be fascinating.

My only advice?

Cast the right actor, not simply the biggest name.

And please, Hollywood, don’t turn every internet rumor into breaking news!

🎭 RENÉE ZELLWEGER, PETER DINKLAGE AND DOMINIC SESSA TEAM UP FOR DARLINGTON!

AN ACTRESS, A BILLIONAIRE, AND A VERY STRANGE TRIP BACK TO 1923!

Now here’s a movie premise that immediately caught my attention!

Two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger is set to star alongside Peter Dinklage and Dominic Sessa in Darlington, a new comedy-drama from writer-director Sacha Gervasi.

And the story sounds deliciously strange!

Zellweger plays Kate Spencer, a once-famous television actress who is offered an opportunity to reprise her most recognizable role.

But there’s a catch.

She’s not being asked to return to television.

Instead, a wealthy, reclusive tech billionaire, played by Sessa, wants her to live as that character inside his meticulously restored English estate.

The billionaire believes he’s living in 1923!

And as the actress enters his elaborate fantasy, the boundaries between performance and reality begin to disappear.

Peter Dinklage also stars, although details about his character remain under wraps.

Gervasi previously directed Hitchcock and the acclaimed documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil.

He also worked with Dinklage on HBO’s My Dinner with Hervé.

Production is expected to begin in the United Kingdom in spring 2027.

No release date has been announced.

MANNY’S TAKE:

Oh, I LOVE this premise!

First of all, Renée Zellweger playing an actress pretending to be someone else?

That’s already interesting.

But then you add Dominic Sessa as an eccentric billionaire who has essentially created his own alternate reality?

And Peter Dinklage?

Sign me up!

What fascinates me is the idea of performance becoming reality.

When does acting stop being acting?

And what happens when someone has enough money to construct an entire world around their fantasy?

There’s potential here for comedy, psychological tension, and a thoughtful examination of identity.

This is exactly the kind of original, actor-driven movie I want Hollywood to keep making.

🎲 SURVIVE: THE GAME TURNS A BOARD GAME INTO A NIGHTMARE!

JUMANJI MEETS A HORROR MOVIE — AND THE DICE ARE DEADLY!

Horror fans, imagine finding an old board game inside an isolated cabin.

You decide to play.

And suddenly, every roll of the dice brings a new deadly threat to life!

That’s the premise of Survive: The Game, a new horror thriller currently filming in Spain.

Olivia Holt, Jaimie Alexander, and Rohan Campbell are leading the cast.

Holt recently appeared in the romantic slasher Heart Eyes.

Alexander is known to Marvel fans as Lady Sif from the Thor movies, while Campbell appeared in Halloween Ends.

The movie is directed by Scout Taylor-Compton, whom horror fans will remember from Rob Zombie’s Halloween films.

Michael Kennedy, whose credits include Freaky and It’s a Wonderful Knife, is involved in the screenplay.

Production is underway in Spain, including locations in Gipuzkoa and Irún.

The story follows a group of friends who discover an ancient board game in a secluded cabin with a violent history.

Once they begin playing, each roll unleashes a deadly consequence.

And the only way to survive is to finish the game.

No release date has been announced.

MANNY’S TAKE:

Oh, this sounds like fun!

And by fun, I mean the kind of fun where everyone is screaming, running, and making terrible decisions!

What I like about the premise is its simplicity.

You have a group of characters.

A mysterious object.

And a set of rules that nobody fully understands.

That’s a terrific foundation for suspense.

But here’s my hope.

Don’t just give us a series of elaborate deaths.

Give us characters we care about!

Because the scariest horror movies aren’t necessarily the ones with the most blood.

They’re the ones where we’re genuinely afraid someone we love might not survive.

💍 NEW LINE DEVELOPS ANOTHER WEDDING COMEDY!

LOVE, CHAOS, AND ANOTHER TRIP DOWN THE AISLE!

Wedding comedies continue to find a home in Hollywood!

New Line Cinema has come aboard Single at the Wedding, with filmmaker Kay Cannon attached to rewrite and direct.

Cannon is best known for writing the Pitch Perfect films and directing Blockers and the 2021 musical Cinderella.

The project is still in development, with casting and release details yet to be announced.

MANNY’S TAKE:

You know what?

I’m always rooting for a good romantic comedy.

And Kay Cannon has demonstrated that she understands the combination of outrageous humor and genuine emotion.

The key is finding something fresh to say about love and relationships.

Because we’ve seen plenty of wedding disasters on screen.

But a great romantic comedy needs more than embarrassing speeches and drunken bridesmaids.

It needs heart!
