Christian Sesma is a darling of the Coachella Valley. The filmmaker, known for his shoot ‘em up films such as “Shoot the Hero” and “Section 8,” shoots his films in the Palm Springs area and hires local crew members and actors from the valley such as his 18th feature titled “Lights Out” starring Mekhi Phifer, Frank Grillo, Scott Adkins, Jaime King, and Dermot Mulroney.
In the film, Grillo is an ex-soldier who teams up with Phifer an ex-con, to be an underground fighter ala “Fight Club.” But when Mulroney enters, trouble ensues.
I spent some time with Sesma to talk about the making of “Lights Out.”
“Lights Out” arrives in select theaters on Feb. 16th and all streaming platforms.
