🔥 THE HUNGER GAMES PREMIERE IGNITES BUZZ! JOSEPH ZADA IS THE NAME TO WATCH!

THE ODDS MAY BE EVER IN THIS MOVIE’S FAVOR!

The games have officially begun!

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping premiered in London Wednesday night, October 28, and the early reactions are overwhelmingly enthusiastic.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the latest installment takes audiences back to the 50th Hunger Games, 24 years before Katniss Everdeen’s story began.

At the center is a young Haymitch Abernathy, portrayed by rising actor Joseph Zada.

And judging from the first reactions, Zada may have delivered a star-making performance!

Critics and entertainment journalists attending the premiere have praised the film’s production design, emotional intensity, and darker examination of the world of Panem.

Some are even calling it the best Hunger Games movie yet.

Film critic Griffin Schiller compared the movie’s serious treatment of rebellion and sacrifice to Rogue One and Andorfrom the Star Wars universe.

Meanwhile, Collider’s Perri Nemiroff singled out Zada’s ability to capture both Haymitch’s warmth and the emotional devastation that shapes his future.

The cast includes Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, and Glenn Close as Drusilla Sickle.

But there’s another major development!

Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed that she returns as Katniss Everdeen, reuniting with Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark and Woody Harrelson as the older Haymitch.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Lawrence described the experience as deeply emotional, especially because familiar crew members were also back.

The actress said she and Hutcherson were practically inseparable during their reunion.

The film opens November 20.

IMPORTANT: These are first social-media reactions from the premiere, not a comprehensive body of published reviews. The full critical consensus is still to come.

MANNY’S TAKE:

Now THIS is how you build excitement for a movie!

But what interests me most isn’t simply the return of Katniss.

It’s the opportunity to explore how Haymitch became the damaged, cynical, and surprisingly compassionate mentor we met in the original movies.

Because the best prequels don’t just tell us what happened before.

They change how we understand the stories we’ve already seen.

And if Joseph Zada really delivers the performance these early reactions suggest, we may be witnessing the arrival of a major new star.

May the odds be ever in his favor!

😱 SMILE 3 FINDS A NEW DIRECTOR — AND HORROR FANS SHOULD BE EXCITED!

A NEW FILMMAKER IS READY TO MAKE US SCREAM!

That terrifying smile isn’t going anywhere!

Paramount’s Smile 3 is moving forward with David Bruckner attached to direct the third installment.

Bruckner, whose credits include The Ritual, The Night House, and the 2022 reimagining of Hellraiser, is taking over from franchise creator Parker Finn.

But don’t worry, horror fans!

Finn isn’t abandoning his sinister creation.

He’ll remain involved as a producer and has developed the story framework for the new movie.

Nick Antosca, known for Channel Zero and Brand New Cherry Flavor, will write the screenplay.

The first Smile, released in 2022, became an unexpected horror sensation, earning approximately $217 million worldwide.

Its 2024 sequel brought in approximately $138 million.

And now Paramount is hoping the third installment can continue that success.

No cast, plot details, or release date have been announced.

MANNY’S TAKE:

Oh, this is interesting!

What makes Smile so effective isn’t just that terrifying expression.

It’s the way the franchise transforms trauma, grief, and psychological vulnerability into supernatural horror.

And David Bruckner understands that kind of storytelling beautifully.

Just watch The Night House.

That movie knows how to make an ordinary room feel absolutely terrifying.

My hope is that Smile 3 doesn’t simply give us more jump scares.

Give us something psychologically disturbing!

Something emotionally unsettling!

And yes, maybe a few moments that make us afraid to look at someone smiling!

⚔️ JAMIE DORNAN TALKS ABOUT BECOMING THE NEW ARAGORN!

FOLLOWING VIGGO MORTENSEN IS NO EASY TASK!

One of Middle-earth’s most beloved heroes is getting a new face.

And the actor taking over the role knows exactly how much pressure comes with it.

Jamie Dornan, best known for Belfast and Fifty Shades of Grey, will portray a younger Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.

The role was famously played by Viggo Mortensen in Peter Jackson’s original trilogy.

In a newly reported interview with L’Officiel, Dornan acknowledged that Mortensen’s performance remains one of his favorites.

Rather than trying to surpass his predecessor, Dornan says he wants to honor the character while bringing something of himself to the role.

The movie is directed by Andy Serkis, who also returns as Gollum.

Ian McKellen is back as Gandalf, Elijah Wood returns as Frodo, and Lee Pace reprises Thranduil.

The cast also includes Kate Winslet, Leo Woodall, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

The story follows Aragorn, then known as Strider, as he searches for Gollum before the creature can reveal dangerous information about the One Ring.

The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled for December 17, 2027.

MANNY’S TAKE:

Oh, the pressure!

Imagine being asked to take over a character made unforgettable by Viggo Mortensen!

But here’s the thing.

Great characters can survive reinterpretation when actors understand what makes them special.

And Aragorn isn’t simply a warrior with a sword.

He’s a reluctant leader.

A man wrestling with destiny, responsibility, and the enormous expectations placed upon him.

If Jamie Dornan can capture that emotional complexity, he may give audiences a fascinating new perspective on the character.

Just don’t try to be Viggo!

Be your own Aragorn!

⚖️ THE HOLDOVERS FACES NEW COPYRIGHT LAWSUIT!

AN OSCAR-NOMINATED SCREENPLAY IS BACK IN THE HEADLINES.

One of the most acclaimed movies of 2023 is facing a serious legal challenge.

Screenwriter Simon Stephenson has filed a federal lawsuit accusing the filmmakers behind The Holdovers of copying material from his unproduced screenplay Frisco.

The lawsuit names director Alexander Payne, screenwriter David Hemingson, producer Mark Johnson, and several companies associated with the movie.

Stephenson, whose credits include a story contribution to Pixar’s Luca, alleges that Payne received his screenplay years before The Holdovers was produced.

According to the complaint, Stephenson believes numerous story elements from Frisco were adapted into the Oscar-nominated film.

The lawsuit identifies 46 allegedly similar incidents and points to a reference to a medical conference in an earlier Holdovers script draft as one example.

But here’s an important distinction.

These are allegations in a lawsuit, not findings of copyright infringement.

The accusations first surfaced publicly in 2024. What’s new is the filing of the federal lawsuit on October 28.

The Holdovers, starring Paul Giamatti, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Dominic Sessa, received five Academy Award nominations.

Randolph won Best Supporting Actress.

Representatives for the defendants had not publicly responded in the reporting available at publication time.

MANNY’S TAKE:

This is a serious issue.

Screenplays are the foundation of movies, and writers deserve recognition and protection for their work.

But allegations also need to be examined carefully.

There can be similarities between stories without unlawful copying, and the legal process will need to determine whether the complaint has merit.

For now, the responsible thing is to distinguish the accusation from a proven violation.

Because accuracy matters just as much as a good headline.

💔 HOLLYWOOD REMEMBERS BARBARA BARRIE, OSCAR-NOMINATED STAR OF BREAKING AWAY

A REMARKABLE LIFE IN FILM, TELEVISION, AND THEATER.

Hollywood is saying goodbye to another extraordinary performer.

Barbara Barrie, the acclaimed actress whose career spanned more than six decades, died Wednesday, October 28, at the age of 95.

Her daughter, Jane Harnick, confirmed her death following a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Barrie received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in the beloved 1979 film Breaking Away.

Set in Bloomington, Indiana, the movie follows four young men navigating friendship, class differences, and the uncertainty of adulthood.

Barrie portrayed the mother of Dennis Christopher’s character, bringing warmth and emotional depth to a film that became a classic.

But her accomplishments extended far beyond that performance.

She won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 1964 for One Potato, Two Potato, a groundbreaking drama about an interracial relationship.

She also earned a Tony Award nomination for the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company.

Television audiences remember her from Barney Miller, Suddenly Susan, and numerous other series.

Following her own experience with cancer, Barrie also became an advocate for greater awareness of colorectal cancer.

MANNY’S TAKE:

What a beautiful career.

Barbara Barrie was one of those performers who could make an ordinary moment feel deeply meaningful.

And that’s what I remember about Breaking Away.

The movie is about growing up, but it’s also about parents learning to understand their children.

Barrie gave that relationship a tenderness and authenticity that made the film even more memorable.

And let’s not forget her groundbreaking Cannes-winning performance in One Potato, Two Potato.

What an extraordinary artistic legacy.

Rest in peace, Barbara Barrie.

And thank you for the movies.

🎥 JENNIFER LAWRENCE SPEAKS OUT ABOUT SAFETY ON MOVIE SETS!

SPEAKING UP FOR PERFORMERS WHO MAY NOT HAVE THE POWER TO DO SO.

Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about an uncomfortable experience that helped shape how she advocates for herself and other actors.

During her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Lawrence revealed that she once discovered unauthorized crew members present while she was filming a nude scene.

The actress said she immediately challenged the situation.

And her reasoning went beyond her own experience.

Lawrence explained that if an established star doesn’t speak up when boundaries are violated, a younger or less experienced performer might feel unable to object.

The actress did not identify the production involved in the incident.

Lawrence also discussed how her approach to filmmaking has evolved as she’s become more confident in her professional standing.

Her comments highlight continuing conversations about closed-set protocols, consent, and the protection of performers during intimate scenes.

MANNY’S TAKE:

This is important.

Because filmmaking requires trust.

Actors are often asked to make themselves emotionally and physically vulnerable in service of a story.

And that vulnerability should never be exploited.

I appreciate that Jennifer Lawrence is using her position to draw attention to a problem that could affect performers who don’t have her influence.

A safe set isn’t a luxury.

It’s a professional responsibility.

One design features two sandworm openings, while another offers a single extended opening.

AMC says the new collectibles were created in response to the enormous popularity of the previous movie’s merchandise.

The theater chain is hoping the buckets become another social-media sensation.

MANNY’S TAKE:

Oh, Hollywood!

Only you could turn a popcorn bucket into a major entertainment headline!

But you know what?

I love the creativity.

Moviegoing has always been about more than simply watching a film.

It’s the anticipation.

The spectacle.

The shared experience.

And apparently, the increasingly complicated process of retrieving your popcorn from a sandworm!

Bon appétit, movie lovers!
